Webb24 sep. 2011 · It looks like I've been barking up the wrong tree with this sm420 Muncie trans adapting to a F 134 and D 18 transfer case. After a little more research I found a combination in the Dodge NP435 trans and Novak adapter plates that leaves only 14 7/8 between face of bellhousing and face of transfer case. Here is a link.

Webb1 okt. 2011 · 1) TH350 is an auto. You are correct; an auto usually will not work under a CJ-5. 2) Your CJ-5 originally had a Dana 20 transfer case. If someone had a 300 in it, it was swapped in. 3) I run a 350, Dana 20, T-18 combo. It's terrific, but you do have to buy an adapter to mate the T-18 to the 350, and it's pricey. I backed the bolts out a bit, put some silicone on them and got all of them to stop except one.
